Bill Nash shared this story.
June Scobee Rodgers was a great admirer of Paul.
When Dr. Torrance visited Texas A&M University, I took him down to spend the night with June and Dick. Of course, Dick was Commander of the "Teacher In Space" vehicle that blew up.
A lot of children were watching because the teacher, Christa McAuliffe, was going to teach a lesson from space.
That evening Paul and Dick and I sat up for awhile talking, and Paul asked Dick about how the astronauts handle any fear and risks that may be involved in space flight, and Dick responded:
1) they rehearse all possible events NASA thinks might occur,
2) with lift-off they focus on all their instruments, and
3) he said that he has to go on with his dreams, and they are in space.
June remarried 3 years later to Don Rodgers, who is a retired 3 Star General.
They have a home on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN.
June located one of the space science labs there at the local university.
